After months and months of not knowing what direction to take my small brand, indobay, I'm excited again!
You may have noticed my shop has been closed for months. As much as I love making items for the home I wasn't feeling good about adding more tea towels, pillows and napkins to an already saturated market. I had to question if I was making things just for the sake of making things to add to my shop. There are so many lovely, talented makers that do it so much better than I do. I needed to step aside for a while until I figured things out.
I didn't know what I was going to do next. All I knew is that whatever I would make had to feel in line with my values. It would need to embrace the idea of simplicity, celebrate the quirks and flaws of handmade and also celebrate the honesty of how it was constructed. The words "thoughtfully considered" came to mind. I also wanted to create something that would stand the test of time, tell a story, and become even better with age, and use. It had to be functional yet beautiful. I also had to be really, really excited about it! No pressure!
With only the idea of using off-cuts from previous projects and products and with the news of a major life changing family event about to happen soon an idea was born!
I'm learning to be patient with my ideas and give them time to be sorted and shaped. I hope you will be patient as I slowly work on an idea that I hope you will love as much as I do.
