(This is Piper looking through the glass door to back yard.)
I sometimes complain about the muddy paw prints tracked throughout the house, the times I don't feel like walking the dogs or the abundance of fur that looms in corners and crevices. I secretly sometimes fear all that fur is going to one day morph into a new furry friend.
Yet, these furry friends make me laugh and smile on a daily basis. I've learned so much from these guys.
Some lessons learned:
From Piper: Piper is a pitbull we rescued. Adopting a pitbull comes with all kinds of misconceptions and judgement, even initially from myself. I learned about prejudice, educating one self about what you think you know but really don't and non-judgement. Adopting Piper was one of the best decisions. She is pure love.
Snickers the Beagle: It's tough being Snickers. That nose gets him in trouble ALOT! Snickers has taught me patience. He's also taught me about unconditional love and forgiveness. When I get super cranky with him over his incessant barking or the millionth hole he's dug, he still loves me.
Whampus our senior cat: Whampus is the epitome of rest and relaxation. I just have to look at her and I'm reminded to just breathe.
Hobie: We call Hobie our "passionately aggressive" kitty. Hobie just wants to nuzzle, lick and be petted. If he could spend his days rubbing up against you he would. He does not keep his feelings hidden. A good way to live.
Thank you my furry friends for all you add to my days.
